We hosted the annual River Grove Elementary School science for a third consecutive year. Hundreds attended, and we sparked the interest of many elementary school-aged children. We directed them towards resources to help them start their own first teams, and displayed several of our robots from previous seasons of FLL and FTC.

Our entire team volunteered at both the Mentor Graphics regional qualifying FTC tournament, and at the state Liberty High tournament. Our roles ranged from judging queuers to event photographer, and we enjoyed giving back to the FLL community that helped foster and propel us onto FTC.

During the spring of last year, we hosted a Call of Duty: Black Ops video game tournament fundraiser at McKenzie Lounge For Teens. We reached out to over a dozen local businesses for prize donations, and charged a $5 entry fee to the tournament. Over 20 attended.

The rapidly growing popularity of (First Tech Challenge) FTC Robotics reflected in the surge of statewide participation in recent years has resulted in needs to help complement and foster the growth of this fantastic academic sport. The escalating interest in FTC robotics is likely inspired by the long season and smaller team sizes permitting a deeper and more flexible engineering learning journey in the ultra cool realm of Mechatronics. The goals of Oregon FTC Network are to help give back and grow with the needs of the Oregon statewide FTC community. The prime directive is to both give rookie and senior teams a one stop place to share and acquire the information they need to make their seasons more efficient and productive. In the spirit of Gracious Professionalism, this site is designed to be run by FTC teams for FTC teams. Teams can truly make a difference in their community, get younger kids excited about robotics, and promote their events, contributions, and technical expertise.
With any luck FTC Network sites will go viral and adjacent sites will pop-up across the United States and perhaps in other countries.
