Our team has eight members. We go to Waluga Jr. High School and are in 8th grade. Our FLL team in 2008 went by Untitled-8, and we've renewed for a second season with FIRST, this time FTC. We still go by Untitled-8
The idea for the team name "Untitled-8" came from the LEGO NXT-G programing software. When a new program is created in NXT-G it is automatically called Untitled-1. The second Untitled-2, third Untitled-3, etc. Our team had eight members, so Untitled-8 was perfect.
The competition was fierce, and while our robot did okay, but some mechanical troubles prevented qualifying for the final elimination rounds. But we we took home the PTC Design Award at the First Tech Challenge (FTC) Oregon State Championship. We are all proud of this accomplishment. Click here if you would like to know more what the PTC Award is about.
About PTC Award:
According to the FTC Manual, it states that: The PTC Award is a judged award and presented to the team that incorporate industrial design elements into their solution. These design elements enhance the Robot’s appearance aesthetically, and illustrates the creativity of the team. Guidelines for the Design Award are that the Team must submit an Engineering Notebook with detailed Robot design drawings, their robot differentiates itself from others, and the robot design is both aesthetic and functional, and be well thought out.
We participated in the ORTOP regional FTC competition on February 6th, 2010. We completed in 2nd place before the elimination rounds and came out with a Motivate and Finalist Alliance awards.
This is our first FTC season. Our team decided that we were ready for a step up from FLL and wanted to increase or technical knowledge.
